A Modest Temple for God

Is Your Body a Temple?

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."

1 Corinthians 6:19&20

Summer time is here and just like many of you, I love it. Many of us head to the pool or beach to cool off and relax. Those moments on the beach or by the pool are wonderful, but not all of those wonderful moments should be shared on social media. Yes, I know that those times are highlights of the summer. I like seeing a beautiful sunset over the water, a giant sandcastle, a swaying palm, ... the family beach picture is wonderful, but you may want to rethink posting that profile picture in swimwear. Bikinis or speedos shouldn't be your top pick for a profile picture. Swimwear is great for the beach, but not on Facebook. Why? Because we are the representatives of Jesus Christ on the earth. We aren't showing off or promoting our bodies, we are followers of Christ. Everything that we do should show the world who Christ is and show that we are God's children. Just like Jesus, we should be showing the world what God is like and explaining to them that God has a plan for them including being a part of a wonderful Kingdom. Our "bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit", a very part of our GOD and should be treated with respect and honor. We should never exploit ourselves by exposing skin for attention or a few Likes on our page. So lets honor our God with our bodies.

Excerpt from What a Bikini Taught Me About Modesty Written by Phylicia Masonheimer is below.

"Recognize that you, and your body, have value. Don’t let the culture tell you that value comes from taking off more clothes—that’s not possible. Value is something with which we are born, and it must be

preserved with great love and care. "
